This weekend is going to be a little bittersweet.  Both of Tyler’s sisters are coming to visit from out of town, however the reason is not such a great one. Ty’s Great Aunt Jude passed away a few Sundays ago and this weekend is her Rosary and Funeral.  Jude was an amazing human being: she was an athlete, a coach, Vice Principal, mentor, family recreational leader and friend.  She brought humor and playfulness to her everyday life, and subsequently, our lives.  We are going to miss her immensely, but she is not one of those souls that just disappears, her spirit and legacy will live on in our family for generations. Her last few months were hard on her and the people around her, so it is hard to be mournful when you saw how she struggled, but the Jude we all know and love is going to leave a void, especially at our family functions.
The thing is, I have learned a great deal about Tyler and the way he looks at life and death through this whole experience.  The combination of his Buddhism and general positive outlook create an interesting perspective that has really helped me and some of his other family members after losing such and incredible person.  I may not be 100% accurate on his beliefs, but this is my interpretation of his thoughts.  First of all, he believes that death is not the end of a life, but the continuation of a soul, which is a beautiful thought in itself.  He told me that we are sad for Our loss, not for Jude’s sake.  Her soul will continue on, just in different forms and will continue to do so until self improvement has reached its peak, or Nirvana.  Now I am sure that I am paraphrasing him a great deal, but I have learned so much from his thoughts and overall calmness and demeanor after losing a loved one.
So I just wanted to say thank you to Tyler, and more importantly, a big “I LOVE YOU” to Jude (Edna).  We miss you so much, but your spirit is way too big and wonderful to not be in the greatest place imaginable.
